Mediabrands, a subsidiary of the Interpublic Group, a media/marketing company with 2008 revenues of upwards of 7 Billion US Dollars, is moving more of their media inventory to the Orion Trading platform, the company’s electronic barter mechanism. For the barter industry, this means more media will be flowing from the large corporate traders like Mediabrands in to local barter operations. Orion will be responsible for performing many local brand purchases, buying up remnant inventory from major news outlets and bartering it to its affiliates. Look for more to develop from Orion in the future.
