Appearing on my radar this week is a new clothing-specific internet site that hooks up anyone looking to swap threads.

Here’s how it works, according to their site:

  1. Find a box of clothes your child will love.
  2. You only pay for shipping (it’s $13.00).
  3. Prepare a box of clothes your child has outgrown.
  4. When picked, send it for free. We’ll even pick it up!

According to the New England Journal of Technology,

The company began last year allowing customers to swap boxes of used clothes by listing the contents online and using pre-paid shipping labels provided by Thredup. Founder James Reinhart now says Thredup will likely focus “90 to 95 percent” on kids’ clothing swaps.
