Crystal Palace UK Mulls a Community Currency

According to a recent report, the Crystal Palace Chamber of Commerce held a meeting recently to discuss issuing a community currency, the “Palace Pound”. With other similar currencies having been launched in neighboring Brixton, Totnes and Lewes, Crystal Palace is interested in keeping more commerce in the local area and increasing the strength of the local economy.

Robert Gibson, a spokesman for the CPCC and CPTT said: “We have established a working party that will look at the opportunities a local currency could create and the challenges that come with it.

“Both the Chamber of Commerce and Crystal Palace Transition Town are looking at how we can celebrate and sustain the thriving independent businesses that Crystal Palace is famous for.”
