TransMedia Barter is proud to announce the merger of a three new exchanges and a new office.

Barter National Exchange, in Cleveland, Ohio and Domino Barter, in Louisville, KY have recently been acquired. In addition, World Barter Exchange in Cincinnati, Ohio is now being managed by TransMedia as well.

“Each is a smaller exchange that was struggling to bring in new members while servicing current clients,” noted Marc Albano. “This is an issue that has been very prevalent in the industry in the last year, which is evident from other mergers further south.”

TransMedia recently opened an office in Brooklyn, NY as well. “Although we do work with local clients of all shapes & sizes, we are not focused on local business growth in the traditional barter profile,” added Albano. “Media and tourism remain our focus and there is a real opportunity to open up that market in the Burroughs.”
The local office, under the banner Big Apple Barter, will be staffed by a part-time concierge to assist travelers with dining, activities, transportation and more.

TransMedia has also closed their operations in Brazil. Albano commented, “The Olympics virtually shut down bookings for us, even hours away; however, we lost our broker fluent in Portuguese. That made such a position untenable.”
